The savepoint administration dialog can be started only by a user which is logged in in the ROOT client as an administrator. Savepoints cannot be used for particular clients but only in a global scope (the whole ProcMan).
Savepoints are exports of ProcMan definitions into files. A savepoint contains everything defined in the Definitions section of the administration dialog and also all defined work list filters at the time when the savepoint has been created. Savepoints can be used for backup of the definitions or for transferring of the definitions from one ProcMan installation to another.
The savepoint administration dialog can be started by clicking the Savepoints menu item. After the dialog has been started a list of existing savepoints is displayed (see picture below).
The dialog can be left by clicking the Cancel button. Alternatively it can be left at any time also by clicking another item from the menu.
A new savepoint can be created by clicking the New button. In this case a dialog window is displayed where the name of the new savepoint has to be filled. After the name has been submitted the ProcMan definitions are exported into the new savepoint with the specified name. If the export has been successful the new savepoint appears in the savepoints list.
A savepoint can be restored by selecting it by checking the check-box at the beginning of the row in the savepoints table and clicking the Restore button. The restore deletes the current definitions and imports the definitions from the savepoint. Beware that a savepoint can be restored only if no processes exist in the work list otherwise this function is disabled. If a savepoint is being restored which has not been created in this installation but imported from another ProcMan installation, the passwords of accounts are reinitialized to the user name in lowercase (accounts imported from LDAP servers are not affected by this as they do not have passwords stored in ProcMan).
One or more savepoints can be deleted by selecting them by checking the check-box at the beginning of the rows in the savepoints table and clicking the Delete button.
A savepoint can be downloaded from the ProcMan server to the user’s PC by selecting it by checking the check-box at the beginning of the row in the savepoints table and clicking the Download button. In this case the user has to select where to save the downloaded savepoint file on the user’s PC.
A savepoint can be uploaded from the user’s PC to the ProcMan server by clicking the Upload button. In this case the user has to select where the savepoint file for upload is stored on the user’s PC. After the upload the savepoint appears in the savepoints table. An uploaded savepoint is not automatically restored.
